The new (green) city deal: regenerative urban development

How to communicate and promote concrete initiatives to face the urgent challenge that climate change imposes? How can policymakers, managers, designers, and citizens contribute to re-design processes, products, and services for the city? The creation of a new model of a sustainable city in response to these global challenges is the thread that will guide the debate to imagine resilient and regenerative urban developments.

On October 5th, 2019, the autumn event of the second edition of the festival will take place at the Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli. We will talk about a new vision of natural capital considered as a strategic lever to cultivate new design perspectives in the field of services for eco-sustainable cities.

Resilience and circular economy will be core topics of the event. Visions, approaches, and case studies - illustrated by leading national and international experts - will outline new design trajectories.

The event will be entirely in English.

Natural capital and sustainable cities: the case in Greater Manchester

Keynote Speaker: Krista Patrick, Coordinator of Natural Capital at the Greater Manchester Combined Authority

Under the leadership of Mayor Andy Burnham, Greater Manchester is growing in its status as a leading green city region with an ambition to be one of the best places in the world to grow up, get on and grow old.

This is supported by its designation as the ‘Urban Pioneer’ for the Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan developing new models to manage and improve our environment. Krista Patrick will provide an overview of the pioneering work that has been delivered to date including the production of a set of natural capital accounts, services opportunity mapping and the Natural Capital Investment Plan, the first of its type for a UK city region.
